Urable vs ServiceM8 for mobile detailers: the $0 Apple-first option or the $70 automotive specialist?

This comparison changes fast as your job volume grows. ServiceM8 can cost nothing at 20 jobs a month. Urable can become cheaper at higher volume while adding detailing-native vehicle tools and published route optimization.

Quick verdict

SERVICEM8

Best first look for low-volume, iPhone-first operators

Free for one user and up to 30 new jobs/month. Paid plans start at $29/month with unlimited users, and Online Bookings are published across all plans.

URABLE

Best first look for automotive-specific teams and higher job volume

Express is $70/month with unlimited users, route optimization and vehicle-care workflows without a published monthly job allowance on the pricing page.

Our decision rule: ServiceM8 is the stronger starting point when your job volume is low, your team is iPhone-first, or customer online booking must be cheap. Urable becomes much more interesting when your job count rises, Android matters, route optimization is important, or you want software built around vehicles rather than general service jobs.

The one comparison that matters most: job volume

Most software comparisons start with the cheapest plan. That is not enough here.

ServiceM8's pricing is heavily tied to monthly new-job volume. Urable's public plan ladder is primarily feature-based and does not publish monthly job allowances on the pricing page we verified.

200 jobs/monthUrable Express: $70ServiceM8 Premium: $149
600 jobs/monthUrable Express: $70*ServiceM8 Premium Plus: $349

*Urable's public pricing page does not publish monthly job-volume caps. This does not mean every 600-job business should choose Express; higher-tier Urable features may still be required for the workflow.

This is the crossover: at low volume, ServiceM8 is extremely hard to beat. Once a business passes ServiceM8's lower job allowances, Urable's fixed plan ladder can become surprisingly competitive.

1. Entry pricing: ServiceM8 wins by a mile

ServiceM8 starts with a genuine $0/month Free plan for one user and up to 30 new jobs per month. Starter is $29/month for unlimited users and 50 jobs. Growing is $79 for 150 jobs, Premium is $149 for 500, and Premium Plus is $349 for 1,500+ jobs.

Urable starts at $70/month for Express, then $110 for Pro and $183 for Enterprise. All three published plans include unlimited users. Urable also publishes yearly totals of $840, $1,320 and $2,200.

If you are a solo detailer doing 15 or 20 jobs a month, this part is simple: ServiceM8 has the stronger price proposition.

2. Customer online booking: ServiceM8 gets there much cheaper

This is one of the most important differences for a mobile detailer trying to reduce back-and-forth messages.

ServiceM8 publishes Online Bookings across all plans, including Free. Its booking flow can let customers choose a service, see pricing where configured, select an available time and create the booking.

Urable's customer-facing booking platform, the Virtual Shop, begins on Pro at $110/month. Urable's booking system is deeply oriented around vehicle-care workflows and can handle in-shop and in-field work, service availability, deposits and upsells.

Internal scheduling is not customer self-booking. Urable Express includes internal scheduling, but its published online-booking capability begins on Pro.

For a solo or low-volume operator who simply wants customers to book online, ServiceM8 has a major price advantage. For an automotive business that wants a more specialized booking experience and already needs Pro features, Urable becomes more competitive.

3. Team pricing: both are strong once you pay

Unlike many field-service platforms, neither product relies on conventional per-seat pricing on its paid plans.

ServiceM8 publishes unlimited users on Starter, Growing, Premium and Premium Plus. The Free plan is the only ServiceM8 tier limited to one user.

Urable publishes unlimited users on Express, Pro and Enterprise.

That means the team-size decision is unusually favorable on both platforms. The bigger pricing question is not “How many employees do I have?” but “How many new jobs do we do, and which features do we actually need?”

Five-person crew · 40 jobs/month

ServiceM8 Starter is $29/month with unlimited users and a 50-job allowance. Urable Express is $70/month. At this volume, ServiceM8's team economics are exceptional if its workflow fits.

Five-person crew · 200 jobs/month

ServiceM8 needs Premium at $149/month to fit the published 500-job allowance. Urable Express remains $70/month if Express contains all required features. At this point, the job-volume model reverses the entry-price story.

4. Routing: Urable has the clearer published price

Urable publishes route creation and optimization across Express, Pro and Enterprise. Its dedicated mapping and routing material describes creating, optimizing and assigning personnel and resources to routes, with real-time adjustments and location-aware planning.

That puts Urable's known route-optimization entry point at $70/month.

ServiceM8 also supports route optimization through its Auto Routing add-on. ServiceM8 documentation says it can reorder a staff member's day to improve route efficiency and supports route optimization from the iOS app.

However, DetailerFit does not currently find a clear public price for the ServiceM8 Auto Routing add-on on the pricing pages reviewed. We therefore do not invent a total ServiceM8 routing cost.

Route-heavy mobile business: Urable is easier to price with confidence because route optimization is published inside the Express feature set. ServiceM8 may still be competitive, but confirm the live Auto Routing add-on price first.

5. Automotive specialization: this is where Urable separates itself

Urable is designed around automotive service businesses, including detailing, PPF, tint and related vehicle-care work. Its product pages emphasize vehicle-centered workflows rather than treating every appointment as a generic field-service job.

That specialization shows up in features such as vehicle records, automotive scheduling, inspections, route planning for mobile crews and a booking experience designed for in-shop and in-field vehicle work.

ServiceM8 is a broader job-management platform used across many service industries. That can be an advantage if your business extends beyond detailing, but it also means the product is not built around automotive objects in the same way Urable is.

PURE DETAILING / PPF / TINT

Urable feels more native

The platform is structured around vehicle-care businesses and the operational details they manage.

BROADER SERVICE BUSINESS

ServiceM8 can be easier to generalize

Its job-management model is designed for a wide range of service contractors rather than one automotive niche.

6. iPhone vs Android: your team's phones can decide this comparison

Urable publishes web, iOS and Android compatibility across its plans.

ServiceM8 also supports Android, but the experience is not symmetrical. Its full-featured app is optimized for iPhone and iPad. Android users use ServiceM8 Lite, which covers core field workflows such as schedules, job details, checklists and other technician tasks.

ServiceM8 explicitly recommends iPhones for main field technicians who need its advanced features and management capabilities.

IPHONE-FIRST TEAM

ServiceM8 stays very attractive

Its strongest mobile experience is designed around iPhone and iPad.

MIXED IOS / ANDROID TEAM

Urable deserves the stronger look

Urable publishes cross-platform compatibility without positioning Android as a Lite technician app.

7. AI: ServiceM8 makes AI part of the pricing story

ServiceM8's current pricing page includes AI Smart Helpers. Free publishes 10 AI uses per day, while paid plans publish unlimited AI uses per day.

That does not automatically make ServiceM8 the “better AI product,” but it does mean AI is part of the standard package rather than a separate premium idea.

Urable's public pricing page is much more focused on automotive workflows, booking, messaging, routing, financial tools and employee operations. For a buyer whose priority is vehicle-care specialization rather than AI tooling, that may actually be the more relevant distinction.

8. Job-volume scaling: the hidden cost most buyers miss

ServiceM8's low entry prices are real, but so are its job allowances. The business pays more as monthly new-job volume moves through 30, 50, 150, 500 and 1,500+ thresholds.

Premium Plus includes 1,500 jobs and publishes additional jobs at $0.20 each.

Urable does not publish equivalent monthly job caps on its pricing page. That makes Urable increasingly interesting for a higher-volume operation as long as the selected Urable tier contains the features the business requires.

The counterintuitive example

A solo operator doing 20 jobs/month sees ServiceM8 at $0 versus Urable at $70.

A business doing 200 jobs/month sees ServiceM8 Premium at $149 versus Urable Express at $70 if Express is functionally sufficient.

Same two products. Completely different price winner.

Real-world scenarios

Solo detailer · 20 jobs/month · iPhone

Start with ServiceM8. Free fits one user and up to 30 new jobs/month. There is no reason to pay $70 before checking whether ServiceM8's workflow fits.

Solo detailer · 100 jobs/month · no online booking requirement

Urable Express becomes cheaper on headline price. ServiceM8 needs Growing at $79/month for a 150-job allowance; Urable Express is $70/month.

Solo detailer · 100 jobs/month · online booking required

ServiceM8 Growing is cheaper at $79/month. ServiceM8 publishes Online Bookings on Growing. Urable needs Pro at $110/month for its Virtual Shop.

Five-person crew · 40 jobs/month · online booking required

ServiceM8 Starter is difficult to beat at $29/month. It includes unlimited users, a 50-job allowance and Online Bookings.

Five-person crew · 200 jobs/month · routing required

Urable Express deserves a serious look at $70/month. It publishes unlimited users and route optimization. ServiceM8 Premium is $149 before adding the Auto Routing add-on, whose public price is not clear enough for DetailerFit to quote.

Mixed iPhone and Android crew

Put Urable high on the shortlist. ServiceM8 Lite makes Android workable for core technician tasks, but ServiceM8's fullest field experience remains iPhone/iPad-first.

Detailing, PPF and tint business

Urable has the more natural software model. Its vehicle-care focus can matter more than a small headline-price difference because less of the workflow needs to be adapted from a generic service-business structure.

Which should a mobile detailer choose?

  • Choose ServiceM8 first if: you have low monthly job volume, use iPhones, want the lowest possible starting cost, or need customer online booking cheaply.
  • Choose Urable first if: you want automotive-specific workflows, need route optimization with a clearly published plan price, use a mixed iOS/Android team, or your job volume is high enough to push ServiceM8 into expensive tiers.
  • Compare exact tiers if: you need online booking, advanced workflows, inspections, accounting integrations or complex team operations.
  • Do not decide from the $0 vs $70 headline: the price winner can reverse once monthly job volume is included.

Frequently asked questions

Is Urable or ServiceM8 cheaper for a mobile detailer?

ServiceM8 is cheaper at very low job volume because its Free plan costs $0 for one user and up to 30 new jobs per month. Urable Express starts at $70/month. Once ServiceM8 job volume moves into higher tiers, Urable can become cheaper if Express contains all of the features you need.

Which is better for online booking?

ServiceM8 has the lower published entry point because it lists Online Bookings across all plans. Urable's online booking and Virtual Shop begin on Pro at $110/month.

Which is better for route optimization?

Urable has the clearer published price. Route creation and optimization are listed on Express at $70/month. ServiceM8 offers Auto Routing as an add-on, but DetailerFit does not quote a total because a clear public add-on price was not found in the pages reviewed.

Which is better for Android teams?

Urable has the cleaner cross-platform story because it publishes web, iOS and Android compatibility. ServiceM8 supports Android through ServiceM8 Lite, while its most feature-rich mobile experience remains iPhone/iPad-first.

Which is better for a high-volume detailing business?

Urable can become more cost-effective because ServiceM8's pricing rises with monthly new-job allowances. The final answer still depends on which Urable features you require, especially online booking and higher-tier workflows.

Which is more automotive-specific?

Urable. Its product is explicitly designed for vehicle-care businesses including detailing, PPF, tint and related automotive services. ServiceM8 is a broader service-business job-management platform.
