DetailBrain vs Jobber for mobile detailers

DetailBrain and Jobber can both handle booking, customer records and payments, but they approach a detailing business from opposite directions. DetailBrain is a new detailing-specific platform built around Shop, Mobile or Both. Jobber is a mature general field-service platform with a broader ecosystem and explicit route optimization.

QUICK DIFFERENCE

Detailing-native vs field-service generalist

DetailBrain is built specifically for auto detailing and publishes different workflows for mobile crews, fixed shops and hybrid businesses. Its detailing-specific signals include condition reports with photos and signatures, mileage logging, service-area rules, shop bays, POS, inventory and memberships.

Jobber is designed for service businesses more broadly. Its strengths are a mature client/job workflow, online booking, payments, a large integration ecosystem and explicit route optimization on higher plans.

The practical decision is less about which platform has more features and more about whether you want a detailing-specific operating model or a mature field-service system with broader integrations and routing infrastructure.

Prices and plan gates change. DetailBrain pricing and Jobber pricing were rechecked September 28, 2026; confirm the exact team size and billing term before buying.

Pricing: the starting point looks similar, but the upgrade logic is different

DetailBrain currently lists Starter at $49/month, Professional at $99/month and Enterprise at $199/month. Starter includes up to three team members, online booking, notifications, basic reporting and Stripe payments. Professional adds unlimited team members, daily route view, inventory, branding and advanced analytics.

Jobber's current pricing page lists Core at $49/month with no commitment for one user, while annual pricing can start lower. Its published plan ladder then adds automation, documentation, route optimization, job costing, two-way SMS and other capabilities as you move up. Pricing also changes with team size and billing term.

Do not compare only the cheapest plan. For a mobile detailer, the relevant price is the lowest tier that actually includes the workflow you need. If route optimization is mandatory, Jobber requires Connect or higher. If DetailBrain's daily route view is enough, that appears on Professional.

Mobile routing: Jobber publishes optimization; DetailBrain publishes route-first detailing workflow

Jobber explicitly documents route optimization that can reorder anytime visits to reduce backtracking. Its current help center says the feature is available on Connect, Grow and Plus. Route optimization is configured on Jobber.com, and the optimized order is reflected in the app.

DetailBrain's mobile product page describes a different workflow: a daily route with addresses and drive times, one-tap navigation, address-based booking, service-radius rules and automatic mileage logging. Its public pages do not currently make the same explicit route-optimization claim as Jobber.

Why this matters: a solo mobile detailer may care more about service radius, mileage and fast navigation than algorithmic route reordering. A larger crew with dense daily schedules may care more about explicit route optimization and mature dispatch tooling.

Vehicle documentation: DetailBrain is more automotive-specific on paper

DetailBrain publishes before/after photo capture, signed waivers and condition reports attached to the job. That is directly relevant to paint condition, pre-existing damage and higher-ticket detailing work.

Jobber supports documentation and checklists, but its data model is designed for general field-service jobs rather than specifically for vehicles. A detailing business should test whether its preferred vehicle history and damage-documentation workflow feels natural rather than simply checking a “notes/photos” box.

Online booking: both can put customers on the calendar

DetailBrain publishes online booking on Starter and adds mobile-specific address checks that can flag out-of-zone customers. Jobber's online booking lets clients choose appointments based on availability through request forms with booking questions, and can collect a saved payment method when Jobber Payments is enabled.

If your biggest pain point is back-and-forth scheduling, compare the booking flow on an actual phone. Test service selection, address collection, travel boundaries, deposits, buffer time and what happens when the customer chooses an awkward slot.

See DetailerFit's scheduling pain-point guide.

Payments: both cover the field, with different stacks

DetailBrain publishes Stripe payments, deposits, tips, payment plans and text-to-pay for mobile jobs. Its shop mode also adds POS-oriented workflows.

Jobber Payments is integrated into the Jobber app and supports online payments plus in-field collection. Jobber also publishes Tap to Pay in the U.S. and Canada, allowing a compatible phone or device to act as the card reader.

Before switching either platform, test refunds, deposits, tips, saved cards, partial payments, cancellations and how processor fees appear in reports.

Shop + mobile hybrid businesses are where DetailBrain becomes especially interesting

DetailBrain's strongest differentiation is its explicit Shop / Mobile / Both architecture. A hybrid operation can combine mobile route tools with shop POS, check-in, bay assignment, inventory and memberships inside one product.

Jobber is more mature for field-service scheduling, crews and integrations, but it is not built around detailing bays, walk-in check-in or a detailing-shop POS model. A business with a physical location should demo those workflows rather than assuming a generic job-management system will map cleanly to the front desk.

Migration and lock-in: test the exit before you enter

DetailBrain advertises CSV import/export plus free migration help. Because it is a newer platform, the important question is not whether “migration” exists — it is exactly which customers, vehicles, historical jobs, invoices, photos, notes and custom data can be moved and later exported.

Jobber publishes client CSV import/export and has mature help documentation. DetailerFit still recommends a sample export and test import before canceling any existing CRM.

Use the detailing-software migration checklist before changing systems.

Integrations and maturity: Jobber has the clearer advantage in ecosystem depth

Jobber's current Core pricing page advertises connections to more than 100 tools through its app marketplace. That matters if accounting, marketing, phone, automation or other software already sits around your CRM.

DetailBrain lists custom integrations at Enterprise level, while API access and webhooks are currently marked “coming soon.” That does not make the platform unusable, but it raises the importance of checking every integration you depend on before migrating.

Who should examine DetailBrain first?

  • A mobile detailer who wants service-area controls, mileage tracking and vehicle condition documentation in a detailing-specific workflow.
  • A fixed shop that wants POS, check-in, bays, inventory and memberships inside the same operating system.
  • A hybrid shop + mobile business that wants both workflows under one customer database.
  • An operator comfortable testing a newer early-adopter product before committing business-critical data.

Who should examine Jobber first?

  • A mobile team that specifically needs published route optimization and mature dispatch/scheduling workflows.
  • A business that values a larger integration ecosystem and established help documentation.
  • An operator whose workflow looks more like general field service than a vehicle-specific shop.
  • A team that prefers a more established platform and is willing to move up the plan ladder for automation and routing features.

Five tests to run before choosing either platform

  1. Book a real sample job: use your actual service menu, address and deposit rules.
  2. Run the mobile day: schedule three stops and inspect drive-time, routing/navigation and technician workflow.
  3. Document a vehicle: add before photos, notes, a signature and a damage condition record.
  4. Take payment: test deposit, final payment, tip and refund handling.
  5. Export your data: confirm what leaves the platform and whether vehicle relationships, notes and history survive.
NEXT STEP

Demo the workflow, not the feature list

DetailBrain is early enough that the live demo matters more than a long checklist. Jobber is mature enough that plan gates and team pricing matter more than simply asking whether a feature exists.
